    Inverters are an important part of any solar installation, they're kind of the brains of the system. And their main job is to convert DC power to AC power, but their role is really expanding some monitoring and grid function and more.  inverters are installed and rows, each on a string, multiple strings are connected to one string inverter, and then each string carries the DC power from the panels to the string inverter where it's converted into usable AC power which we consume as electricity, central inverters are similar to string inverters, they're much larger and can support more strings of panels.

  The strings are connected in a combiner box, that runs the DC power to the central inverter where it's converted to AC power, and we get down to the little guys micro inverters which are really cool because they're installed on each panel of the array. And the advantage of this is that even if one panel is underperforming say there's a tree in the way or some kind of shading. It doesn't jeopardise the performance of the whole array. So systems with micro inverters can actually be more efficient than string inverters, but they are more costly. The last type is battery based inverters and chargers. These gadgets have come into play thanks to the growth of solar plus storage, and may include both a battery and an inverter.

 They are battery powered and can be used in Off Grid applications, as well as grid tied or grid interactive, so it's really important to choose the right inverter for your solar array, because you want to ensure peak performance.
